What to Expect

Blandford Enchanted is a volunteer-run fundraiser created by the Grand Rapids Symphony Friends (formerly known as the Grand Rapids Symphony Women’s Committee) to benefit the orchestra’s many education programs. The event will run Friday, June 2nd through Sunday the 4th at the Blandford Natures Center’s beautiful new Welcome Center, 1715 Hillburn Ave NW.

“Members of The Grand Rapids Symphony Friends thought a show featuring fairy houses would be an enchanting way to engage with young families as well as the creative community of Grand Rapids,” said Liz Schultz, long-time member of the Friends committee. “The event builds on the history of success we’ve had as an event-planning organization. A similar event held in 2015, Brookby Enchanted, was such a success that we thought we’d revisit the idea, but add a few new components to make the weekend really sparkle.”

Blandford Nature Center, a 143-acre wildlife and nature preserve in Grand Rapids, will play host to an enchanting fairy garden for one special weekend this summer, June 2nd-4th.

“Blandford Enchanted” will feature dozens of meticulously hand-crafted fairy houses created by local artists. Adults and children alike will delight in the tiny details that make these dwellings so unique. There will also be do-it-yourself fairy door decorating, a special “Fairy Boutique” selling handcrafts and costume components, live music, storytelling, and a few special surprises along the way.

Saturday night will culminate in a magical twilight lantern walk through the forest, complete with musicians to lead the way.

Blandford Enchanted is more than just a celebration of nature, creativity, and whimsy. It’s also a fundraiser benefiting the education programs of the Grand Rapids Symphony. Your attendance will help bring the gift of music to thousands of kids in Michigan!

This event is perfect for kids of all ages, and costumes are encouraged. (More details on the FAQs page.)
